Big Game: a review

Hello!

I'm actually awful at writing reviews and I don't usually write them unless I have to but I went to see Big Game today and I suddenly felt like writing one. I had pretty high expectations and I wasn't let down which was nice. It might be because I'm not usually a huge fan of these kind of movies so I don't have many things to compare it with but I think it was pretty great. Worth of going to see it in the movies.

Written and directed by Jalmari Helander
Starred: Samuel L. Jackson, Onni Tommila, Jorma Tommila, Ray Stevenson and others

The movie starts by following a Finnish boy, Oskari, who is going on a hunting mission to prove his manliness to the people in his village. The day before his 13th birthday, Oskari is taken to a forest for a day to hunt something to take back to the other hunters. He is determined to make his dad proud as he is quite famous in the village for killing a bear on his own hunting mission. Little does Oskari know his trip will be full of action, drama, near death experiences and life lessons by the president of the United States himself.

As the Air Force One is shot down on it's way to Helsinki, starts an action packed adventure including the heroes hiding from the terrorists, betrayal, hilarious one liners and gunshots. So. Many. Gunshots. The movie is full of plot twists one after another all the way until the end of the film. Some are predictable, some completely unexpected. You never really know who are on the good side.

My only problem with the movie is that it's supposed to be set in Northern Finland. As much as I loved the breathtaking scenes of the mountains and forests, it was definitely not Finland. As someone who lives in Northern Finland, I can confirm there are not that kind of mountains there. These scenes were filmed mostly in Germany. Other than that the movie was great and I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat most of the time. Editing was nice too, I especially liked a part where Oskari was practicing hunting in the forest and the sound effects made it sound real even though he was just pretending.

I'd give the movie ★★★★

The emoji challenge

Hi!

So Troye Sivan made a video , the emoji challenge, few weeks ago that inspired me to write this post. The challenge is to describe yourself in five emojis and explain why you picked them so here are mine:

I chose the little, blushing smiley face because I love smiling and I love it when other people smile. I think I'm a pretty positive person most of the time. That is also one of the smiley emojis I use the most.

I chose the camera emoji because I LOVE taking pictures. No matter if it's with my fancy DSLR or my phone camera, if it's a picture of a pretty view or a selfie, snapping pictures of things and people is what makes me happy.

I always have some music playing and most of the time from my headphones. Music just makes me really happy or sometimes gives me energy to do different things. Also it keeps me company when otherwise my apartment would be dead silent.

This was the closest emoji that I felt like represented sign language. And I love sign language which is obviously why I study it. It's something that I've been interested in since I was about 9 and now actually knowing the language a bit, it's absolutely one of my favorite languages.

I had to pick the lipstick emoji because I basically can't leave the house with some color on my lips. The brighter, the better :P I can't even keep count these days of how many lip products I actually own.

It's adventure time again

Hi!

I visited Helsinki for the weekend because couple of my favorite youtubers from Ireland (BriBry and Candice) were having a meet up on Sunday and I REALLY wanted to meet them. This ended up being a perfect weekend to visit Helsinki as two other youtubers from the USA I'm a fan of (Joven and Lasercorn from Smosh Games) were in Helsinki too and tweeted on Friday that they'll have a meet up on Saturday. I went to the meet up on Saturday with my friend Laura who gets credits for most of the pictures from that day and on Sunday I met a bunch of my friends from twitter which was really nice. Overall, I had such a great weekend and I'm so so so happy I decided to go to Helsinki :) All the youtubers I met were super lovely and I couldn't stop smiling for the whole weekend.

Also this post is going to be mostly pictures but aren't pictures worth a thousand words? :P

Friday

On the plane

Saturday

Posing to get the lighting right for Laura's ootd pictures :P

Joven :D

 Lasercorn :D

Couldn't stop smiling after the meet up :3

Some air hockey before the movie

We went to see Cinderella which was great btw :D

Sunday

A mini show at the meet up which was super lovely

They sold some stuff at the meet up and I got couple of albums and a super cute hat :3

Candice noticed that we had matching phone cases which was really cool :D

I gave BriBry an eyeliner from a Finnish makeup brand and he got really happy about it and hugged me :3

And now I'm sitting on a 12 hours long train ride on my way to Rovaniemi. I got a ticket in some kind of new cart that has spinning, single chairs and this isn't as bad as it could be. We'll see how dead I'll be in our first aid course tomorrow :DD

The angrier birds

Hi!

One of the greatest things about having most of my friends from here live so close to me is totally the fact that we don't have to plan every single time we want to hang out. So as I got a text from my friend asking if I wanted to go for a walk with her, I said yes and grabbed my camera as I hadn't done that for such a long time. We went to walk around from the Jätkänkynttilä Bridge, to the Angry Birds activity park and after having a little snack at Subway, it got dark enough for me to try out a bokeh lense I quickly made before we left. I didn't think it would actually work but the pictures ended up pretty cool. I need to make more of these.

Winter break haul 1

HI!

So I went shopping today with my friend Laura today. I saved up some money especially to buy new clothes from Helsinki since my style has changed a lot this year. I found some amazing things and I'm so happy. I think I'm going to go through my closet when I go back to Rovaniemi and sell all the clothes I haven't worn in a long time. Anyway, here's what I bought today:

I'm kind of obsessed with making little animals and charms out of loom bands and they had way more colors in Sinelli here. I got sparkly pink, 2 bags of black, silver, 2 bags of gold, red, bronze/brown and light blue.

From Anttila I got a Nivea in-shower body milk. And from H&M couple of makeup brushes since I was really smart and left mine at home.

Shirt and skirt from H&M

Top and skirt from H&M

Shirt and skirt from H&M

Skirt and jacket from New Yorker
